An Ode to Promising Outcomes

As a freelancer, I’ve had the fortune, and sometimes the misfortune, of working with many different companies and people.

Amidst the thorns, Promising Outcomes (PO) has been the one glowing, blossoming rose; filled with empathy, sincerity, inquisitiveness, and perspicacity.

It inspired me to write about PO and what I, as an independent worker, perceive makes it different. (PO’s only stipulation when I suggested writing this piece was that I be honest and unbiased…. which is a clue to their modus operandi)

I’ve worked with plenty of CX, EX and Consulting providers over the years. Many are good at measuring. Few excel at interpreting. Almost none are adept at prioritising and helping clients beyond the final deliverable.

Delivering strategic goals that are authentically human and grounded in intellectual rigour is an outcome that can only come from people who truly understand the complex nexus of business, society, and human behaviour.

And that’s where, I believe, Promising Outcomes quietly, but fundamentally, changes the game.

We Don’t Just Tell You What’s Broken – We Tell You What to Fix First

Let’s start with CSAT scores. Too many companies I’ve worked with treat a CSAT as a strategy. It’s not. It’s a snapshot, a basic measure of how customers feel. It’s nowhere near robust or nuanced enough to form the foundation for meaningful change.

Similarly, an eNPS score won’t tell you why people are leaving, and Net Promoter alone will never stop churn. These are blunt tools, good at signalling a problem exists, terrible at telling you which problem matters most.

By contrast, the PO Expectation Analysis method flips the script. It identifies the gaps between what customers and employees expect and what they actually experience, then pinpoints the gaps that will have the biggest impact if closed.

That’s the difference between simply reporting dissatisfaction and actually reducing it.

In other words, we don’t hand you a 70, page report and wish you luck. We give you a highly personalised roadmap that isolates pain points with pinpoint accuracy and guides you far beyond the implementation process.

Where Rhetoric Meets Reality

One of the most frustrating truths in the corporate world is how rarely companies practise what they preach. I’ve seen values etched into glass walls, splashed across websites, and celebrated in keynote speeches, only to discover that, behind closed doors, behaviour often contradicts the words.

Promising Outcomes is different. The moral character of its people isn’t a branding exercise, it’s the operating system. The way the team works, the way they interact with clients and the way they tackle challenges is all steeped in integrity.

The insights PO delivers are not just nuanced and analytically sharp; they come from a place of genuine care about creating lasting, positive change, not just delivering a report.

That matters, because when recommendations come from a place of trust and moral consistency, leaders listen differently. They act differently. The changes they make last.

Our Insights Survive the Boardroom Test

Other companies I’ve worked with have often produced aesthetically pleasing decks, but the elegance of the visuals sometimes masks thin insight, leaving top-heavy reports that look good but offer no clear pathway to long, term change.
At PO, the balance between aesthetics and rich insight is just right. Yes, we give you beautiful charts, but never at the expense of nuance and incisiveness.

We know that when a CEO leans forward and asks, “Why should I spend £2 million fixing this instead of that?”, you need more than attractive slides. You need a clear, evidence-based diagnosis of where your delivery against expectations are falling short, where the priorities lie, and what needs to be done to close the gap.

Our work is built to withstand that kind of scrutiny. It’s statistically rigorous, transparent in methodology, and directly tied to your strategic outcomes. We’re not here to give you “food for thought”, we’re here to give you the clarity and confidence to make big decisions and stand by them.

We’re Partners, Not Vendors

Another key difference between PO and other companies I’ve worked for is that many believe their job ends once they’ve delivered the report and presentation. PO’ immense background in organisational change means they can support you beyond the report.

This means staying close through the implementation, helping you navigate the change journey and its challenges, providing additional workshops or training, sharing their experience and coaching you and your teams to become intrinsically more capable.

Because data doesn’t drive change, people do. And transformation doesn’t happen the moment you receive findings; it happens in the months that follow, when leaders are setting priorities, communicating vision, and embedding new ways of working. That’s when you want your insight partner still in the room.

Impact Over Optics

Over the years, I’ve seen how often companies conflate “interesting” with “useful.” The two aren’t mutually exclusive, but striking the right balance is critical.

Unlike some consultancies, our goal isn’t to impress you with complexity for its own sake. It’s to make the complex simple enough to act upon, without compromising on rigour or nuance.

We measure our success not by the elegance of our reports, but by whether you have the tools to help your customers stay longer, your employees feel more engaged and your business become more successful.

Everything else is noise.

The Bottom Line

In a hyper, competitive world where social media encourages companies to perfect the appearance of authenticity rather than the reality of it, too many I’ve worked with end up fixated on looking better instead of being better.

Hand on heart, I can say my time at PO has proved that not every company falls into this trap. Promising Outcomes doesn’t need to be louder or flashier than the competition. The sharpness, rigour, and authenticity that underpins everything we do means our clients don’t just receive insight, they get a partner in their pocket that drives them to achieve meaningful, lasting change.

In a market crowded with talk, we’ve built a reputation on outcomes. And that’s not just in our name.
